Psychiatry & Medication Management

Psychiatrists provide psychiatric medication management and assessment

Our mental well-being is directly connected with our overall physical health

Experiences like stress or trauma can leave us anxious, overwhelmed and hopeless. Untreated, these feelings can lead to major psychological and physical illnesses or to behaviors that can become addictive and destructive.

Just as it’s important to have your physical body checked by your primary care provider, it’s important to have your mental health checked as well. A psychiatric practitioner can perform an initial checkup similar to what a primary care provider might do.

Based on this assessment, a diagnosis is made and a treatment plan is designed with the client at Boulder Integrated Health. Medications will be discussed and education will be provided on the actions, uses, and side effects of the suggested medication options. When the client agrees on a medication and treatment option, the medication is prescribed for a trial period to observe the effectiveness. This is the “medication management,” aspect of psychiatric care

Through careful monitoring and ongoing discussion we find the right medication and treatment plan to improve the client’s mental health. The use of prescription medications introduces potential risks and side effects, and we monitor for them closely.

Due to how psychiatric medications react differently within a client’s brain chemistry, the effectiveness of the medications may vary from person to person. Every individual is unique.
